TIMELINE
WEEK 1- Immersion in the classroom: In your classroom, your teacher will immerse you in a variety of biographies, videos and resources where you will learn what a biography is and why it would be useful.
WEEK 2- Choose your person: In technology and media class (as well as in your homeroom) you will be browsing biographies in order to find someone that you are interested in researching and learning more about!
WEEK 3- Pair up & Research: We will have Skype chats with another third grade classroom in Howard County where pairs that are researching the same person will meet each other, share ideas and resources. Each pair/group will be allotted time to begin researching together and sharing information & resources in order to get ahead on their projects. Students can collaborate using GAFE.
WEEK 4- Pair up & Research continued!
WEEK 5- Write it up: Individually you will work on going through the process of writing to create your BioWax speech. This speech will be outlined with important information and written in the first person of the person you have chosen. More details to come...
WEEK 6- Practice: You will meet up with your pair again to help one another modify and adapt their speech etiquette so that both partners are ready to present.
WEEK 7- BioWax Museum: There will be two BioWax Museums this week. The first will involve you recording your speech (in technology class) and then our partnering class will view our speeches. We will also then be able to view their speeches. After we have viewed each others BioWax Museums we will discuss (as a class) with them, via Skype some things we think they did well and areas where they can improve. They will do the same for us. The final BioWax presentation will take place in our media center. You will be dressed (for both presentations) as the character you are presenting and your audience will be 2nd graders, parents, friends, family and community members.
